Specialized Sirrus Sport carbon matte black finish bad fade.
Hi. Don’t know if I’m in the right forum, sorry.
Bought this 2017 bike, looked like new when I bought it, in bright sun ))). Then about two weeks later I decided to replace the original Microshift shifters with Shimanos (with display)t, and while routing the cables noticed very bad fade of the original matte black finish. Mostly on vertical tube between front derailleur and seat post, and on the fork. I don’t know if the previous owner used some heavy cleaners on it, or what. I’m a moron for not noticing it. There was some grease around the bottom bracket on the very bottom, and I cleaned it off with 50% rubbing alcohol - no fade and no damage to finish. So what happened there I don’t know. I had a Specialized sirrus Elite carbon black and a Cannondale quick carbon before, both matte black, and never had a problem.
so the question is: what happened? Is it normal? how do I prevent this happening to the rest of the bike? Any way to restore it? Is this kind of damage covered by some sort of warranty? I wrote to Specialized but so far didn’t get a response yet.

I wouldn’t hold my breath on hearing back from Specialized. Since it more that a year old, you are not the original owner, and paint fade is not covered by the warranty, it is what it is.
