Here is my bicycle. Is an old steel city bike, Bianchi Spillo, slightly upgraded. I only changed the hand bar with a mtg style one, rims with cheap double walled Ride Zac 19 and tyres (Schwalbe Marathon 700-37). I've just gone for a 560 miles tour to my father birthtown in the deep south of Italy, from Umbria (in the center of Italy) where I live. It took 10 days.

Will you be hanging anything from the back of the board so drivers can tell where it ends?

Here's a fun picture. New touring bike, Surly Pug SS (though, I'll probably throw gears on it). Biked home from my local bike shop with it strapped to my backpack. A harrowing ride! 10/10!

Great shot - is that the Hudson sign? I live about 12 miles from it. Is that the LHT Truckaccino color? I had my Panasonic Pro-ATB powder coated to try and match it. I used a color called Corduroy tan and it came very close. I like to see someone still using the vintage Cannondale bags too.

2015 Slovenia
I had 10 days for vacation last July. I spent 3 days in Venice and 7 days cycling around Slovenia. After site seeing in Venice, I took the train to Trieste and began my cycling tour. My route included Koper – Piran – Postojna Caves – Ljubljana – Lake Bled – Kranjska Gora – Vrsic Pass and the Soca river valley. Finished in Gorizia and took the train back to Venice. I highly recommend Slovenia as a cycling destination. It’s a beautiful country with warm friendly people.
Pic 01 - Crossed the bridge connecting Venice to Mestre. Had to carry over the Ponte della Constituzione bridge. Short walk to the hotel.
Pic 02 - First ever border crossing. Cycled from Trieste into Slovenia. Picture taken near Koper.
Pic 03 - Piran city center. Picture take from the church bell tower. The church sits high up on a hill.
Pic 04 - Lake Bled as seen from the Castle Bled.
Pic 05 - Bike against a traditional Slovenian hay rack.
Pic 06 - A beautiful park near Kranjska Gora.
Pic 07 - Beginning the climb up Vrsic pass.
Pic 08 - One of 25 switchbacks on the climb up Vrsic pass.
Pic 09 - Beautiful picture of the Julian Alps. In my opinion, Vrsic pass was equal in beauty to the Grosse Scheidegg pass in Switzerland.
Pic 10 - Nearing the summit.
Pic 11 - The amazing turquoise waters of the Soca river.
Pic 12 - My reward after a hard climb and fun decent, fresh river trout and a Lasko beer.

Surly Long Haul Trucker. From Mongolia to Ireland
https://crankandcog.wordpress.com/
Myself and my girlfriend both used Surly Long Haul Truckers, with Tubus racks and Otrlieb Panniers attached.

Patch; Looks well laid out and equipped. And you still have room on top of the racks to strap down your tent and sleeping bag. Are there mounts for another water bottle or two? Excellent. Thanks for sharing. Ride on and keep smiling!

Mikdes; Looks really great. You are well on your way with a nice frame, fenders, and capable brakes. While you are turning up the human engine, be sure to keep an eye out for early season special pricing on your needed touring bits. Availability is also best at this time. You don't want to get to the early riding season and find that you most desired bits are sold out or back up to full price. Things like shoes, panniers, tents, etc.
Cheers and ride on.

CCrank0cog; Awesome equipage. A committed lady rider with a big smile is definitely a welcomed add to this thread. Much appreciated. Ride on young ladies.

Boxy; Nice rig. I have not seen the double baggage approach previously. I am impressed by the creative approach to avoid the typical fat, heavily loaded single panniers. Your approach will definitely have less surface area facing into a head wind. I note with a smile the solar panel on top. Well done. Please post more photos of you and your rig in scenic spots and of you riding it. If you find any issues with managing cross-winds, we would appreciate hearing those.

What kind of pedals are those? They're pretty eye-catching and look like they're nice and deep. (Most platforms are far too shallow for my feet.)

Hi Neilfein. I use DMR V12 flat pedals, i have them for years, they're solid and chunky and unbreakable. I think they're used a lot on BMXs.
