MRT in Iowa vs Illinois
I'm currently riding the Mississippi River Trail through Minnesota. Riding segments over the weekends and looking to finish 30 July. Been talking with my riding partner about doing a few hundred more miles this fall over a week or two depending on our vacation schedules. I've seen Illinois has there's pretty well laid out and mapped but Iowa is more of a mystery. MN DOT has maps we've downloaded and can use and it looks like Illinois is the same but not finding anything on Iowa's website. Anyone know if Iowa's portion is well laid out and off busy highways or roads with little to no shoulders? Recommendations for one side of the river over another? Eventually we would like to complete the entire trail and ride a segment in every state. We plan on credit card touring.

Thanks for the info. Next challenge to overcome is the logistics of getting home.

I'm not sure, but the Driftless area of Iowa (and Wisconsin) brings on some big hills (I'd prefer the Wisconsin side and good maps exist there). Ill has good supporting info.
