I am trying to decide if I should get the Juiced Bikes Hyper Scorpion bike or the Ariel Class C bike. I like both and although one of my life's motto is "you can have your cake and eat it too. Just buy two cakes", I can't afford two bikes. So I must choose.
A little about me: I am 76 years old and weigh 260lbs. I am losing weight but this is what it is at the present time. I just went through months of hospitalization and skilled nursing for serious infections. I am much better but I am having some mobility issues and still use a walker. I m going through physical therapy and I am told that having a goal of bike riding again is reasonable and attainable.

The Hyper Scorpion is a lower bike and it seems that it would be easier to get on and off and as I age it will (I think) be easier for me to use in the long run.
The Ariel Class C is more of a traditional step-through bike and has a lot of great features for the money.
I realize that asking this question may get me a lot of opinions and biases answers. Although not scientific that is exactly what I want.

Please give me your opinions, biases, thoughts and recommendations.

One is a moped type of bike. The other is a bicycle type of bike. Your goals are probably different from mine, My wife and I are seniors (67 and 71) that ride bikes for recreation on bike paths. I only use the street to get to a bike path. I like the exercise and use the lowest pedal assist because I enjoy pedaling. We ran up 1000 miles and 1800 miles respectively last year on ebikes.

The moped would get me stopped by cops on the street, Assuming I could convince the local cops it was an e-bike, I would eventually get left alone, but if I went anywhere new, I would expect the attention. I wouldn't try riding it on my favorite paths as other users would call the law. It's really not designed to be pedaled, in my opinion. The seat position is too low.

If you're looking for something to improve your health via exercise, Ariel Rider. If you're looking for a quiet electric scooter. Scorpion,

Which one would be easier to:

1. pedal if you run out of juice?
2. fix a flat?
3. life onto a bike rack or into a car?

Which company has been around the longest, and likely will be there when you need replacement parts/battery?
Which battery can be rebuilt by you or other skilled sources?
Which one feels more comfortable to you to actually ride?

Ariel Rider??? I just don't know as I haven't seen either up close and consequently ridden them. But the Ariel might give you the best of the bike and electric worlds. I think in the end no person can give you any advice that is better than your own instincts. The scooter does look provocative in a policeman's way of looking at it. That was your outlook also. Unboxing was straight forward, this bike was packed really well..
even for Cannondale standards back in the early 90's


Lifting the +100 lb. bike out of the box was not easy, even without front wheel & all parts mounted.


Less than 30 min., it's assembled & charging.. will take a spin once charged.

Looked like a great deal for the price. I met the owner at Interbike a few years ago. Really bright, interesting guy who graduated from Princeton,was an Olympian and even toured Europe as a high-jumper for a few years. He told about spending time in the factory in China (four months in a row AIR) "tuning" the bikes.

I was going to say which bike feels more comfortable to you. How is the fit? I'm happy that you got the scorpion. Now I'd like to hear your experiences riding it. Are you comfortable when riding it? What are your thoughts about your purchase?

Tora Harris is definitely a trip, he was THE top high jumper for USA for quite a few years.
After I placed my order for the Scorpion back in SEP 2019, I received notifications on update from Tora on his Youtube channel.

His video on his air travel to China back in MAR 2020 was surreal, how much tighter the screening for person with possible illness & mandatory 14-day quarantine for all air-travelers into China.
You really get a sense how much effort Tora puts into the production of these ebikes.

I put about 16 miles on it this morning, mostly on PAS, ECO level.
Near the end of my ride, I got it up to level 2, keeping it stead at around 20 mph with undulating terrain.
Battery is down to about 2/3 level at the end of the ride.

It definitely needs a taller seat for me, pedaling with my knees bent is not ideal for long rides.
I'm already thinking about adapting a bicycle seatpost with a custom mounting bracket.
Juiced Bikes do offer a tall seat bracket, which is not available and cost $50.
I can probably weld together some piece to fit my needs.
I'm about to replace the old Honda C70 once I get used to the Scorpion.

Seat height would deter me from many "different design" e-bikes like the Scorpion and "Super 73" since I have fairly long legs, but are great for some individuals. IMO, this bike is a particularly good deal. Might be excellent for bike-camping, just not much pedaling input.

It would be pretty easy to weld a seatmast from a bicycle frame to adapt regular seatpost to the Scorpion..
I've a few bicycle frames made into stools that I can easily convert for such purpose.
