Help! I keep getting email notices about replies like I actually care.

I've spent a ton of time on trying to figure this out and can't. I know I can individually delete threads that apparently get automatically subscribed to. But how can I turn off the emails (notification settings)? I don't care if I have to go nuclear and cut off all correspondence from this site of any kind. I suppose I could just designate this sender as spam but I'm not ready to do that just yet.

Change the setting under User Control Panel -> Edit Options -> Default Thread Subscription Mode to No Notifications.

Doesn't work. I still receive bulk emails for threads I have participated in at the end of every month. Very annoying when you have 20 separate emails for 20 separate threads updating me on the status of those threads.

Email notifications is not checked.

I get emails sometimes. You somehow got subscribed to those threads. I know you can unsubscribe. I'm pretty sure you have a "thread tools" drop down menu in the upper right which should allow you to unsubscribe. Very inconvenient for 20 threads, sorry.

Every once in a while someone will complain they aren't getting emails and my response is always, "what???! You want those emails?"

I appreciate this thread. I too was getting those pesky emails telling me about posts on this and one other forum's threads. I just changed my settings in both and my inbox is not filled with that garbage.

Interestingly I changed my options for notifications to not receive email notifications. Yet I continue to receive these annoying emails. Does it take time for new options to take effect?

You have to opt out. Otherwise, it is automatic.

Also, further down in the control panel,

I recommend "disable infinite scroll"- stops those long threads from jumping around as they keep loading.

I have already opted out of every email notification. I think what I need to try next is manually unsubscribing from each thread.

You should be able to wipe that out if you are in full website mode, view subscribed threads, click the box next to “notifications “ which will select the notifications option for all subscribed threads, then go down to the drop down box at the bottom of the page and select “no notification” and then select “go”.
