Lowest price was at ProBikeKit. I ordered it in December. Once they had stock, it showed up in less than a week.

A post came in the post. For my Expedition project.
From the other end of the world in Malaysia, only three days to arrive. I've had stuff take twice that long, from only a couple states away.

Franc,
I though about you when I got this last night. Lots of mystery until I got through to the sender via social media. He responded right away and noted that it was an e-bay purchase I had made. I was wondering what would cost over $15 to send me in the box.

Box as it came in and it was very light!

Contents of the box as received.
It turns out there was a pair of Campy low flange French hubs in it when it left the post office first. Perhaps it went to China and then back to me. It came in about a week late, and no significant damage so It was either opened or the box came apart in the shipping process and emptied it's contents. Now there is a search going on at the Post Office and likely a claim for the loss. What fun! Smiles, MH

I'm dealing with similar right now on two things, was just complaining to Law about the same.

I ordered some stuff off eBay two Saturdays ago. Our regular carrier had to take vacation starting last Wednesday evening to deal with a family issue thru end of month. My package was tagged "out for delivery" on Thursday, we didn't get any mail that day. Friday the tracking changed to "awaiting delivery scan", but we only got a piece of junk mail, no packages, and nothing again on Saturday, despite us getting mail daily, religiously when the regular carrier is on route. Fortunately, I got the tricolor front mech Law sent to me on Monday. Still no package from eBay, though. We're at the end of a long route, and it's not uncommon for the fill-in carriers to stop delivering mail once they hit their 8 hours (or it gets dark) because they're not allowed to work overtime or something, so we just don't get mail until someone familiar with how to complete our route gets on shift with us, or our regular carrier returns.

Likewise, I sent a saddle USPS Priority to the PO Box of Swampthing in mid-late January, IIRC. Got to his box in a couple of days, after taking an unexpected couple-day vacation in Pensacola. On his next visit, were 2 keys in his PO Box, one locker had a package, the other didn't. but he didn't think anything about it. Looped back to me after a couple of weeks asking if I shipped yet. I checked the tracking, and USPS's site said "Reschedule delivery or we'll return to sender". I sent him the reschedule link, but it wouldn't let him reschedule, only do a pickup. He scheduled pickup, but they couldn't find the package. Shortly after, tracking status changed to "Delivery Attempt". I gave it a couple more days to work out while he was away, then filed a lost mail claim with the details. Email auto-response said a representative would get back to me within 1 business day. That was 4 weeks ago, no emails, no calls, nothing. About a week ago, we were hitting the 30-40 day range from shipment and I don't feel comfortable holding someone's money with no product this long, so I filed an insurance claim. Got confirmation of the claim, 3-5 business days was (I think) the response time. I haven't gotten a call or email on that either.

Mind you, I have a USPS business account and have for years, so they know where to find me. It just sucks, I've got my hand hovering over the refund button on PayPal, and we're both out something. Oh, and best part - I'm STILL getting "we're still trying to locate your package" emails from USPS for Randy's stem.... even though one of their reps called me to say they found it, unexpected duties were due, and needed to be paid or it'd come back.

All of this garbage started when that DeJoy assbag crippling the postal service after being installed to do just that before our election. I'm tired of it at this point, I want my old USPS back.

Crazy part is, I've shipped 2-3 dozen packages to BF'ers in 2021. Several pairs of bearings, even hooked up a BF'er in need with some cotters, and a pair of Simplex prestige levers for the cost of S&H to help them finish a project - all packages arrived in a mostly-timely fashion. Had one package going to a snowed-in area in January take a few extra days before delivery, but generally speaking service has been OK. But when there's a mis-step every 15th-20th package, it seems more often than not it's a colossal failure. But to the point, I hope your seller has more luck dealing with USPS support than I did. I guess maybe I need to sit on the horn with them. Tried that w/the saddle, took me 3-4 calls of waiting for 30-60 minutes each call before I could get a human, only to have them tell me, "you'll need to handle this via our website, file a claim!"

Frustrating.

Franc,
I get it, since covid I have done nothing in person and only through USPS or other carrier. After a PayPal hack I have even had to quit doing electronic payment. I am back to 1970's in sending cashiers checks and asking for postal payment because they still seem to get the letters through correctly. I think the extra load from electronic sellers that are dumping on the postal service is not quite fair in many respects. Amazon, UPS and DHL send overload to the postal service to deliver. It is interesting that FedEx still gets through easily, but it may be because they have their own air fleet to get product around. I guess I am lucky because the payment was through a CC and I can get the $60 back, but it still is a PITA because the parts are in either postal limbo or have been stolen. In both cases I will not be hurt but the problems from the changes to the postal service at the top still linger. Smiles, MH

I was told by an employee USPS primarily handles "last-mile" with the larger carriers. As those carriers know, it's getting it from the distribution center to the recipient that's the real challenge, it's why those other big big fish charge 50%-300% for the same service. Not the first time I've heard this last-mile claim, so I presume it's true .... just don't know if FedEx is one of them.

Anyway, ,while I'm pissed about my current seat situation w/USPS, at least they managed to get this to me last night, many thanks to 3speedslow !

PS - good luck with your situation, MH!

I received these levers from deux jambes , very nicely wrapped, and some Cinelli "celeste" tape that will need to go back because it's a bit too blue.
Best, Ben

francophile,

I feel your pain. A few weeks ago, I purchased a small part from an eBay seller in CA. He mailed it immediately, but the tracking trail ended a day later at a USPS distribution center. Two and a half weeks later the package arrived in my mailbox.

My TimTas/Etsy decaleur came in yesterday and it was simply a bolt up affair unlike just bout everything else I've ever bought for bike bags. It was ~$110 which is cheaper than most everything else I looked at and those would have required some changing on the bar/stem side so if you're looking for a decaleur just get a custom one made from those guys and be done with it.

Having survived the past year, a year that offered more challenges than any I can remember, I decided to treat myself. I've wanted a nice merino wool jersey for a long time and greatly admired the jerseys that gugie had done at Oregon Cyclewear and Spectrum. But a bit more color please. This just arrived and I'm happy.

Showed it to a friend who's reaction was "but they mispelled "workshop". Eh, lemme explain.......
