Addiction 2021.1

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Wife and I went out for tapas last night. The amount of damage that has done to my stomach today is unbelievable.

Demonstrably. I love mine. It would be a close race with the induction hotplate. That thing is just amazing. I put the water on, put the oatmeal in it and am eating said oatmeal 30 seconds later. But on the coffee front, I drink mine tepid. And instant. I had a true addict for an acquaintance once. He used to buy up dried poppies, from flower arranging shops, for the opium. His type is why they were made illegal. He got into caffeine tabs for a bit. He would mention that by the time your water's boiling, I've already got a buzz on.

While packing for my ride this morning, I noted that my mini-6 has made its escape. I vaguely remember pocketing it for a test ride. Oh! But wait! The last bike I rode has tubulars, and a Cannondale spare tire bag. No doubt it's in there. Whew!

Pactimo, Morvelo, Squadra race fit M. Don’t know where that falls on the international spectrum.

Stoopid ******g windy.

I felt good about planning ahead and, after working my way in to a headwind, making sure that I had a nice tailwind on a long, straight stretch. What caught me by surprise was the wind turning a bit and working against me for the last two+ hours.

Buy an induction stove.

I can prolly bring 500ml to a boil in under 2 min.

I'd lean towards the Italian, generalizing that American fit=Primal Wear, Italian fit=Castelli

Went up Old La Honda today for the first time since November. Improved my time by 16 seconds! I guess between Zwift and losing 10 lbs, I have given myself a much better starting point for this year than I've ever managed.

That's the effect I call the Omnidirectional Headwind.

A Hell of a lot better than our tandem or my Propel with deep rims.

Seriously, our tandem can get scary in a cross wind. There’s a lot of tubes, spinning legs, etc. to create a lot of turbulence.

First time I went to a tapas bar, it was at the invitation of our IP lawyer. When he said, "Tapas bar", I could have SWORN he said "topless".
