Yes Bora is out now too, like 17 people in quarantine. Woods is looking great!

WVA seems ready to win GW, how hangry is he for a win after that last puncture and near miss?

I myself have been out of Velogames with a bit of procrastination having spent most of my time watching the background imagery from the Volta and daydreaming ...

mohoric finally in a position to win...should best de gendt in a sprint situation w/o difficulty. more concerned with them messing around and the bunch catching up...

*edit* congrats to de gendt. mohoric unlucky today.

I think my only chance of catching up to our leader in Catalunya was for Quintana and Sagan to collaborate in a breakaway. That could happen, right? Unfortunately, for me, it didn't (though it would have been some great racing). The results aren't up yet, but congrats to ooga-booga for what looks like the win once the commissaire slaps the table.

For those other accursed games, the beat goes on with its relentless Wed-Sun rhythm for the next little bit.

Two days off. What will we do with them? I might need to make some stupid predictions about something just to keep the juices flowing. You never can tell how the body will react to a rest day so it's best to do some work.

ooga-booga did, indeed, win Catalunya and also leads in the season long Tourapalooza "Stage Race Championship" competition. Chapeau; The Tour of Itzulia (no, really!) is next on the docket there starting 4/5. Then Romandie and then the Giro.

I'm hobbling along in the one day grand prixes, seemingly aided more by attrition than talent.

A double tap of Flanderen awaits.

Got the team in for Dwars, I'm thinking Trentin does well. I know Kragh Andersen has potential.

Spring classics I got heavy with the wolf pack.

The Wolfpack was tremendous then MIA. Tie breaker ahead!

Click-through took me to Nizzolo rather than Trentin for my pick but both have been on point.

Can't bet against MVDP. But there may be ways to get ahead without him. Or not!

Just another day of senility and user error in Velogames here. I woke up this morning early and couldn't remember if I had updated my team last night correctly. I checked and it looked mostly good but Barguil was there. I was confused. After some research, I realized I meant to pick Asgreen but mis-misclicked. Did some resets and Mulligans and nodded off again.

Imagine my surprise when tuning in the race this morning an seeing Barguil in the chasing group with ~20km to go. My second "where the heck did Warren come from?" of the day.

It would have added insult to injury if he had stayed up there, but I see that he's out of the money at the finish line.

There's not a lot of chatter here so I'm going to have to bludgeon myself here. Fortunately, that seems to be within my skill set!

Congrats to canam73 and GrainBrain for their stage wins at Dwars in the Superclasico and Spring Classics leagues. I'm still clinging onto the GC in Superclasico but canam73 is looking relentless. I may have to hope he misses another start or three. There's still plenty of time to get a late start and pass some of the herd. Really. This darn league goes on forever.

love the classics but i'm always a race or two ahead or behind with the (semi-)correct pix. even worserer than the grand tours and that's saying something.

youse twose that selected ddv winner van baarle in the separate games-well done. he had a nice attack. really enjoy seeing the aggressive "bleep it, legs feeling good"
long-distance forays attempting to hold on at the finish vs the last km sprint out of the pack with the sprinter/favorites teams successfully controlling
the proceedings most of the day.

What an odd race that was! I picked Baarle with my usual random guessing along with Geraint commenting on him not getting results thinking "well maybe". Of course betiol was a no show today, and then I watched Trentin and Vivianni hit the deck and get left behind. Vivianni's fall was particular brutal, he got up but man he slammed his head.

I'm glad to have a vpn + GCN now, really love that area of the world. I will be excited to though for the Basque country bonanza as that area is fantastic, with the final stage(?) ending on Arrata.

I think I will not pick Alaphillipe or MvdP for Saturday, MvdP looked way off and not well.

I may have to give my VPN more of a workout once my FloSports subscription expires.

GCN is a bargain.

tuff being on the west coast in california with the european racing calendar. will wake up early/stay up late occasionally for the queen stages
of the three gt's along with maybe one more stage of each + a classic or two...but not enuff, for this nite owl, to justify subscribing to anything.
subscribing would destroy any hope of sleep pattern continuity from march to october.

we'll likely see the usual suspects on sunday.

Got my team set and yet ... Thoughts of Stuyven, Avarmaet ...... Barguil ... DQ lounging about waiting for the weekend ... Will probably pull Betiol cause he was a non starter Wednesday though he said he'd be there Saturday. Fool me once ...

on a positive note...only 5 weeks till the giro. prefer to have my hopes dashed early vs a continual optimism that i'll be able to rejoin the proceedings.

It's a good time to dream of pink. May those dreams come true.

It's also time to make the donuts. Again. See you on the hellingen on Sunday.

Don't forget:
- midweek racing continues. Despite the unholy condemnation of next weekend.
- the Tour of Itzalia starts Monday. Part of the season long VG Tourapalooza. New to me just now, that's AKA the Basque country. I've heard of that one. Itzalia? Not so much.

Semi-awake? Apparently both of us. Cognizant? Jury is still out.

For the Ronde, I'm still on the WVA bandwagon. Though I expect a real steel cage match. If he and I win, I may treat myself to a proper baked good. If we lose, I may have to penitently gag down a pink donut and do better next time.

No predictions yet for Itzalia. I only just found out where that was.

I changed the lineup once again. Avermaet, Baarle, SAGAN, Asgreen. Then threw in Hayter and Scully. I'm too stingy for the top three!

Predictions for Itzalia? The start lineup is ridiculous in my opinion. Tao, Roglic, Hugh, Pogacar, Yates, Carapaz, Woods, Chavez... Plus other big hitters. All three teams look super strong. Uran. Will have Uran picked for sure. I didn't see Kuss mentioned which is odd I'll have to look again.

... but we all know the kid from Slovenia will win it ...

itzulia looks like a fun race and a ton of killer riders participating. more than a handful of fantastic riders i had kinda forgotten about.
using it as more of a giro template as i didn't pick any of the biggie faves and took some fave riders except for hirschi and mcnulty.
uae, ineos and ef are bringing some heavy hitters. should be a blast. some great values. wanted to take some of the local euskaltel
boys for those breakaway points and woulda if the field wasn't so deep. picking adam yates to win it.

*edit...added hirschi...couldn't resist.

I committed 6 pts to one of the lads in orange for pure selfish good luck as a public service.

Ah, Itzulia. Once more into the breach. I see five of us there now.

I flirted briefly with the double Slovenian strategy. But Our Adam is running very well. But Ineos may mix it up with a multi-pronged new Ineos attackathon. So I waffled for a bit. Even pondered a dual Lancastrian strategy briefly since Hugh Carthy is so good on the steep bit. Pretty sure I opted out and ended up with only one Slovenian and one Lancastrian, and no Colombians even though Higuita has a good punch and another Chaves win would put a smile on many faces. Like most of my VG teams, I can't quite remember what I ended up with or whether I correctly hit "submit" after my last round of perseverating.

Part of the joy of all this is wondering whether the folks doing well in the race are even on my team. It's a force multiplier.
