Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

That's a current version. I had so much want for an Orange Krate when I was a yute.

I could see the passenger get pissed off that I seem to have misinterpreted him...

The REI website doesn't appear to work in Mexico. Also, in Mexico, one cannot apply for their World Elite credit card. They are a world elite company as long as you have a USA phone number. I am a long time member and am about ready to throw in the towel on them.

Remember I had the chain slip under load in easy gears a while back? Problem was worn front chainring.

I had a mild recurrence last week when I put the Williams 38 rear wheel on. It has a used Dura-Ace ww cassette, and would slip just one tooth in the 4 biggest cogs. I could not tell visually if cogs worn, but I believe they are Ti and wear fast.

For yesterday’s ride I put a 105 cassette on and problem solved.

I am about to embark on the Velo Vol memorial handlebar wrap. I will use Pelten, Italian made cork wrap. Starting from the bottom. Black. Always black. Like his soul.

Interesting. I have their card. Just activated my replacement one yesterday. Kitty's medical bills helped me run up a larger than normal dividend for last year.

Went used car shopping this morning. I really hate the car buying process. It was great with our Saturns but all the others have been unpleasant.

Third world problems.

Where are you in Mexico? Daughter is heading to San Miguel in a few weeks for a visit.

Me either

Once the pain was gone it certainly made for a good inside joke.

I guess it was an REI kind of day - I just got back from there, myself. My sun sleeves are getting to be a little loose on me, so I bought some that are one size smaller, and picked up some Shot Bloks while I was at it.

Then I wandered in to a Sierra Trading Post a couple blocks away and saw that they had a pair of Castelli sun sleeves for 4 freaking dollars. I was disappointed to see that they were XXL, though... And then I pulled them off of the hanger thingy - they were tiny! They were also stretchy and fit really well, so I bought them, too. I wish that they would have had multiple pairs.
