Flipping the cogs on a uniglide cassette

I flipped the cogs the uniglide cassette on my 83 Super Strada and wondering if that
could affect shifting. The bike was new to me and I never had the chance to ride it
before I refurbished it and flipped the cogs. The Dura Ace AX rear derailleur doesn't
seem to shift as it should so I don't know if flipping the cogs could be the problem
or the derailleur itself which isn't the same as any other derailleur I've seen.

Not on the cassettes, the shifting aide engineered features may only work in one orientation..
buy a new cassette & chain..

S-A 3 speed 13,14,15 are flat, Rohloff cog can be flipped too & Surly stainless steel chainrings..

Flip them back.
Takes 5 minutes and you answer your own question better than we can.

Yep I'll give it a try. I don't think very many people have any experience with this derailleur

Or there may be a lot of people and you just don't realize it.
Of course, you fail to provide any model# so we know what RDER we don't know about.

Did you change the chain? A worn chain on a flipped cog might not work very well

It's supposed to work just fine. Mine are dead symmetrical, so I can't envision it changing anything I I do flip them. I have the fortune of a very lightly used bike from the UG era, that I only put vanity miles on, so this won't be a problem for me for a long while.

After your flip, it's probably time to consider the future.

1. Sell to a vintage lover if that's not you.
2. Scour eBay for replacements, beware that Dura Ace isn't compatible with eh rest of the Uniglide line.
3. Change your rear hub to a freewheel, since 6 speed freewheels are readily available and dirt cheap. This feels like going backwards though.
4. Convert the whole bike to HG. New hub, new shifters, new cassette, new chain. Maybe more new stuff depending on your mood. 8 speed cassettes are going to be available for quite some time, or if you're worried, buy 4 today since they're cheap and stick them on a shelf.
5. I've heard tales of taking single HG cogs and grinding the wide tab narrow, probably with a Dremel. As long as the threaded last ring isn't worn out, this could work. Of course you need to find a cassette that is totally disassemble-able.

I wish I could help you with the 7300. I would love to have an AX group on a bike but haven't come across one yet.

My 7400 stuff adjusts just like any modern non electric. From pics, that AX stuff is different. Still, it's got to be pretty much the same, high and low stops and something like a b-screw. Just maybe in a different place. Have you tried turning screws to see what happens?

It's not that the AX shifts badly it just shifts differently. In my opinion the in derailleur index system doesn't work well. Downshifting it will work sometimes upshifting
not at all. The in derailleur index system isn't a click it's almost like hitting a flat spot when you shift so when you go through the gears its like sometimes feeling
that flat spot and sometimes it's just a friction shift. I may try picking up a Suntour Superbe Pro rear derailleur which I heard works well on this system

The deraileur is indexed? Not the shifter? That's like the coolest thing I've heard in a while.

Too bad it doesn't work super well. Out of the box thinking for sure.

Does it have a switch like all indexing shifters, to switch it to friction?

Yes the derailleur is somewhat indexed and there is no switch to go to friction.
I believe the system was called positron. I really can't find anyone that can give
me their experience with this shifter to compare my experience Here is a write up
on it.Shimano Dura-Ace AX derailleur (7300)
