Chain falling between chainrings when dropping down to smaller ring

Di2 shifting, New chain, 11sp Connex on Ultegra 11sp double cranks and cassette. When dropping the chain down to the small chainring and while in the highest 3 gears (the cogs farthest from the spokes), the chain drops between the rings. It's a new Ultegra 39T ring.

My initial research on Google says the chain may be too narrow. I suspect that Connex and Shimano had the same chain width though...

This is usually caused by the derailleur not knocking the chain off the big ring with enough enthusiasm. First, make sure the derailleur cage is properly aligned--outer plate parallel to the chainrings and 1-1.5 mm clear of the tallest teeth on the big chainring. Recalibrate your limit screws if you moved anything. If it's still happening, try loosening the lower limit by a quarter turn. With the way auto-trim works on Di2, it's pretty hard to overshift the small ring under any circumstances anyway.

Is the new 39 tooth ring on backwards? They look symmetrical, but aren't. The teeth are offset inboard/outboard. They ought to be outboard closest to the big ring.

Are you using the 39T small ring with a Shimano 53T big ring, or are you mismatching chainrings?

Is the 39T chainring on the right way, and do you have the △ marking aligned with the crank arm?

I didn't notice the "triangle" marking, but will check. 53/39T Ultegra 6800. Thanks for the info, will update.

I never saw the triangle. I did have the ring on backwards, and the situation seems to be fixed. thanks to all.

See the little notch on the inner circumference?

That is supposed to go under the crank arm.
