Just to be clear, these wheels require a 7 speed suntour cassette and the buyer will need to track one down as the existing cassette is no good, right?

Is it a Microdrive freehub? The cassette would have had the last two cogs as a unit. The largest cog is probably a 24 or something if it is.

I keep watching this, and it's getting dangerously close to "buy it anyway" pricing!
I have an '89 Cinder cone I restored to full Suntour XC components, and I have a second wheel set I still need to replace the front hub with the XC Comp hub gathering dust in the basement. I have (!) a 7 speed Suntour cassette installed on both rear wheels, plus an extra Microdrive cassette and hub (Microdrive was Suntour's name for their compact drivetrain). I stuck with the normal stuff because I didn't intend to swap out cranks for the smaller MD rings to make the smaller MD cassette more manageable for me, a mere mortal.
The only reason for the second wheelset is because I want to be able to make a 'pony' CX ride out of the Cinder cone, and the narrow 26" Matrix rims on the second wheelset are ideal to mount the narrow Schwalbe CX Pro tires I have and keep them narrow. I just measured the outside width of those rims as 20mm, which means your set might be using the same width (assuming the 16 is for the IW). It's unfortunate that the AP cassettes are so rare, and therefore expensive.

@Unca Sam I won't be able to go lower on pricing but let me know if you're interested.
Shipping to eastcoast has gotten a bit more expensive even with shipbikes.
