Looking for some supercalifragilisticexpialidocious cheap aero wheels!
Like the the title says. I'm looking for some supercalifragilisticexpialidocious aero wheels (clincher) that are cheap.
I do a lot of loner rides. Most of the kids my age are too busy partying to be out riding bikes. And the rides I can do with a group would be on Saturday when they're not working. I live in a hilly area but I already have a set of light wheels.
I'm very poor and already 10% of my meals consist of canned food and top ramen. Okay I'm not that poor.
Lets say under 800 USD I would be happy but I can live if it's under $1000.
But if there's a really good brand/wheel set or wheel pairing you guys recommend that that exceeds what I'm willing to spend then I can just put in a few dollars into a jar and in a year and a half I'll be ready to buy them!
I don't mind if it's from China and made with child labor as long as it won't explode or radiate me.

I ordered a pair of 50mm deep 25mm wide U Shape, with light hubs and ceramic bearings. Coming from a set of aftermarkets RS80s c24. The chinese wheels are awesome. Only used them for one ride thought but I can tell the difference. They are 1460g and roll great at 20+mph. All together 650 with shipping from china included. They can be had with DT240 hubs as well but those run for about 1000 bucks.

Those cheap carbon wheels are probably good. That said, I would not trust them for long descents (1000+ ft), especially if you're over 150 lbs. The main failure mechanism of carbon clinchers is heat going into the tube increasing the pressure until you get an asplosion when the rim softens to due and the tire pressure increases. A large part of what you're paying for with Zipps is the engineering and testing to ensure that the rims are completely safe.
