Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Thinking of purchasing a quality bike (fixed)

My local bike shop has a new 2014 KHS Flite 100. I have not heard of this brand until I looked them up and they seem like they have been around for a while and are quality. I currently ride an aluminum Giant track bike and was hoping this would be just as good if not better since it is steel and like they say steel is real. The price is a bit steep at 660$ but I like the frame and the wheels a lot! Not sure how much I like the drops or saddle but those are the things I might swap out. Perhaps this would be a good spare fixie gear to buy?

The Flite100 is good, about the same as the bowery.

660 with or without tax? That's pushing 700+ if you think about the total cost.

You are right. That is steep. For some folks paying 75 dollars for a bike at Walmart is insane. For others dropping 5k on a bike? I'll take 2: one for home and one for away games.

For the 700 ball park you need to be looking at a Wabi. But I'm biased because I enjoy mine.

It's definitely quality! (even says it right on the seat tube of the frame). I love how she rides. $500 cash was good enough for the bikeshop.

The seat clamp bolt broke, good thing it happened at home when I was adjusting and not while I was out riding down a hill!? Hope these things are easily replaceable, maybe I had a cheap bolt?
