Viaduct Solution
Looks like Horsey has come up with a great plan to get the Viaduct fixed

I ride under that thing every day. I just hope that when it falls, it goes the other way.

I think that even after the next earthquake flattens the Viaduct that people will still be arguing over how to best replace it .
I'll hope that unixpro isn't underneath the thing when that happens .

that viaduct is scary, I'm glad I don't have to travel it every day.

I couldn't help thinking about the Viaduct as I was watching the news this morning and hearing about how the politicians had held up fixing the problems in Centralia even after the 1994 rains. Changes that should have made the problems from the rains earlier this week much less, of not prevented them altogether. Your tax dollars at work?

bah, the viaduct is yesterday's emergency. The 520 bridge is now the emergency du jour.
Our tax dollars aren't for fixing things. They are for politician's pet projects that leave them a legacy for a lifetime. No one wants to be named after a river dike.

Everyone I was talking to was blaming the Centralia thing on new construction on new fill, basically making a new **** to hold more water in place. But the new stuff was flooded too so it wasn't the most limiting factor. In the end, it's all a river valley, and that will have predictable results.

And Seattle is on a fault line, and that will also have predictable results. I just hope I'm not under it when the results appear.

The vaiduct got to go. And we should do it rather than Mother Nature. It's ugly and dangerous. San Francisco took down their "viaduct" some years ago and it didn't affect traffic as much as everyone had predicted. The waterfront would sure look a lot better without it.
