Decision Trek 7.3 or 7.6
I am brand new to bike riding. We rented bikes on vacation recently and now want to take the plunge. I had pretty much decided the 7.3FX would be my first. Now I find another shop has a closeout 7.6FX for a great price. I am going to try it out tomorrow but just curious for about $150 difference which would be better. I plan to do mostly road riding, paved. I would like to begin entering some rides in the area for 25 miles or so. I am currently out of shape and need to lose another 25 lbs. I do worry if the 7.6FX will withstand my 200 lb frame or not - again I haven't been on it yet. Like everything in life I am an overachiever and want a bike that will grow with me. I expect once I get started that I will be adding several to my collection in the coming years. I like variety. Any advice to help get started would be most appreciated.

I cant speak to the 7.6, as i dont have one, but i do have a 7.5 and that is easily a 150$ upgrade over the 7.3 for the carbon fork alone. I am 215 and the 7.5 holds up with my weight and a packed rear trunk bag & panniers fine.

If the 7.6 fits, I would go for it. For $150 more, I think you will find it's worth it over the 7.3. I also have 7.5 fx and just did a 25 mile ride on it very comfortably.
