20" wheel road bike? Know where I can get one?
Hello All, I am wondering if anyone knows where I can buy a geared road bike with 20" wheels. My son is 8 and I would love to get his hands on a tiny road bike. Thanks for any leads!

Felt F24 has 24" wheels. Fuji Ace comes with 20" wheels. However, in my experience, it's not a great bike. Options for 20" road bikes are really slim. Even 24" road bikes are few and far between.

Gonna be tough to find something with drops and 20"
Redline has one, looks discontinued now. Conquest 20
My son did ride one as a tester with drop bars a couple years back.

What about a folding bike where you change the handlebars to drops? You can put front derailleur on many of them.

I know Bianchi has, one of the sports shops in Norway have them but buying a bike in Norway probably won't be a good idea when not living here....

See if you can find a Felt F24 to test. They run really small compared to most other 24" bikes. My son just turned 10 and the F24 is way too small for him, while his Redline Conquest 24, and Felt F95jr both fit great.

It's already been mentioned, but take a look at the 20" Fuji Ace. I'm thinking of getting one for my middle grandson, but I think he will need the 650c wheel size. He's still too small for even a very small frame road bike. There's a LBS not too far from me that carries both the Ace and the F24 and, from what I can see, there really isn't that much of a difference that will be noticed by an 8 year old.

Fuji and Felt both make 650c bikes, but based on the OP's post, those bikes will be too large. I just put my 11 year old on a 650c bike, and it's definitely something he will need to grow into. Mt. Airy Bikes in Mt. Airy MD (bike123.com) has a couple of vintage jr. road bikes, if you don't mind downtube shifters. You might want to call their owner, Larry Black, to see if he can set you up. If a 24" bike will work, the Felt is probably the best option in terms of new bikes, but it is pricey. Scott makes a 24" road bike too, as does Pinarello. They have a 24" Pinarello in stock at Freshbikes in Bethesda, MD, and I have also seen one at Tri-tech Multisport in Columbus, OH (the idea of putting a little kid on a Pinarello just rubs me the wrong way, even though it's only around $50 more than the Felt).

Little Gitane "midget racers" come up on CL occasionally with 500A (20") wheels. Usually with 3 speed derailleurs in back, single ring up front. Pretty fast too- my 7 y.o. burns up the track on her's during citizen's racing
