Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Meh, mine looks similar when I have a 14 on. I go from 49x17 to 49x15 right now. I'd want all of that room to play with gearing.

I re-built my summer singlespeed commuter, but I am bashful to post it here - I see slick, component-free fixed gears with impeccable paint.

I think I'll post mine in the jackass thread, even though it's a bike I immensely enjoy riding.

I am very much a noob with bikes but Im researching and trying to learn more. Im not a fan of the handle bar so I will be changing that right away. Overall I like the bike so far.
Apart the issue with the drop bars, wouldn't a singlespeed benefit from a rear brake?

Love that Desert Turquoise Wabi. What's the headset? Looks simultaneously threaded and threadless?

It's a Chris king 1 1/8 thread less with a velo orange tall stack that is made to resemble old school quill stems. I found a cobalt blue Chris king stem cap to match the blue nitto ends. I think it adds a nice bit of color.

Nah, my bike is really quite jack. It doesn't belong even in the same universe as these nice bikes here. I'll snap a few pics tomorrow and post in the jackass thread.

You're not allowed to post your own bike in the jackass thread. There are plenty of homely SSFG bikes, including some of mine that have been posted in this thread. As long as you actually ride the thing it belongs here.

Both my single speeds have front & rear brakes. I don't ride a fixie myself......simply too many hills in my area and at 53 years old, I enjoy coasting from time to time.

Minor revision to the Bianchi Super Pista Concept (Pista Concept frame with Super Pista fork), removed half a link in the chain. Any excuse to post more pics of one of my bikes.
