Procrastination pays off - Sequoia parts bike
A couple of years ago I acquired a mistreated 82 Specialized Sequoia. Frame, fork and headset were the only original parts, and the fork looked bent. I took it to l'atelier de gugie, where the resident fork guru expressed his doubt that it could be repaired. Grief stricken, I tucked the poor frame away among the French and Canadian bikes littering my garage and forgot about it...
Until today! I spotted an ad for an 83 Sequoia near me. It had a cracked BB shell and the gracious owner was offering it for free. Yipee! A fork and many original parts in one fell swoop.

The Specialize had great marketing, and I always imagined some day owning a Sequoia to ride PCH San Fran to LA.
Great thread title by the way. Though to some, the procrastination might look like hoarding. But, like the military have “hanger queens” aircraft, appears you too have used inventory.

Insidious C. , Nice! Are you going to trim off the excess steerer or just stack a bunch of spacers up top? (I've done it both ways). Does the existing threading go down far enough to use on your good frame?

Here is a mystery for the forensically inclined: Why are both the shell (only the top) and the BB itself completely fractured? These would seem to be unrelated yet too much of a coincidence not to be.

Is there damage to the drive side crank? Maybe the same whack did both.

The forks side by side. It seems like the easiest way would be to cut the steerer below the threads and go threadless. Would this require mixing bits of two headsets? If anyone is in dire need of a fork for a 65cm 83 Sequoia, now is the time to speak up, before the cutting commences.

The FD is (faux endless) band mount as are the shifters, Cyclone M-II and GT RD. Brakes are Superbe. Specialized hubs and MA2s with, ugh, Schrader valves. Sugino AT crankset, Miche Comp pedals, Laprade post with blue paint, Vetta rack, Touring I saddle. Largely stock parts for 83.
Edit: And a spiffy alloy kickstand!
