Frames with forks for the frugal
Update: two left!
I have a few frame/forks that need to go. Location is Beaverton OR. Because of their low value it probably wouldn't make sense to ship these, but I am willing to ship if buyer pays shipping expenses and is patient while I scrounge up shipping materials.
1982 Trek 610

1991 Specialized Sirrus

1987 Miyata 312
Gone
1970s (my guess) "Campanale" made in Italy. Head badge says Campanale, Canoga Park (CA)

very similar to a bike posted a few years ago by Binky
This bike tho has DT cable stops (brazed on hex nuts!) rather than shifter bosses.
Most likely Italian threaded shell, but have not checked. BB is cottered.

Price: $20
This is one of the steel tubed Techniums, so it's either 531 or 753. As you can see I removed a lot of paint but was unable to find the Reynolds proof mark. When I bought the bike it was full Dura Ace which suggests Team/753. It's very small, maybe 20". I am pretty sure the yellow paint was not original as the cable guide was painted over.

I don't think that Trek is a 1984 610. Paint is wrong, and seat tube clamp bolt ears are wrong. I also don't think the seat tube had that color panel.

1984 610 was my interpretation of the serial number, N5F4A88. I would appreciate it if someone would correct me or confirm if I am right.

On the Trek, Model year does not matter to me as much as size. What is the actual seat tube measurement? And, BTW, I am in Wash Co. Thanks

I heard a loud creak on my midnight commute home. It was coming from the frame of my beloved Claud Butler commuter, which always has creaked a little from origins unknown. I discovered a huge crack in the lower head lug. I'm still reeling. It is the same size as that Trek and in similar condition. It would be wonderful if you still had it and would send it to me in Medford Mass. I will pay bikeflights, I will wait, I am devastated but you could save me.

Looks like 610 is going to scarlson. It may be simpler to transplant the CB fork onto the Trek rather than straighten the Treks fork blades.

I'm going to do something similar with it to what was published in issue #58 (winter 2016) of Bicycle Quarterly, except maybe with 700c wheels instead of 650b so I can keep the Claud Butler fork. They called that project the "Frek":
And maybe I can remove those dents with a set of frame blocks or the latest thing from ShelBroCo. For the time being I commute on my Ron Cooper or my Vitus. Ron Cooper is too much bike and Vitus is too little bike for Boston.

I know the guy who did the "Frek", Steve Frey up in Seattle. He rides a lot with the BQ gang and makes his own racks and torches up old frames, similar to what I do. Those vintage Treks in that model are great rando conversion material.
Shoulda brought the frame over to the Atelier for a quick fork alignment and rollout of any dents - I'm happy to help out on these freebies.
