80s Razesa Road Bike

What do you guys think? Any idea on the group set from the photos? Price fair or too high?

Weird mishmash of parts and a really cheap crank. Frame looks OK but I'd certainly pass at this price. Misleading ad in terms of what is found on the bike.

$ within reason. many of the fittings well below calibre of frameset. Razesa offers a whole range of frames. the top of the line model at this epoch would have been constructed with Columbus SLX tubing. this example appears to wear a Reynolds transfer so that is a plus. dating correct. it may be a near to top line frameset but definitely not bicycle as seller writes. she would never have been kitted like this at factory. likely assembled by hobbyist or store. value ok but perhpas it would be better to wait for a "factory" one if you really want a Razesa. manufacturer offers both framesets and complete cycles.

Thanks for the replies @juvela and @bikemig

I certainly wasn't sure from the photos since I'm not schooled in classic bikes, but the components didn't look fantastic to me either. What I read about Razesa frames seemed promising but I'd have to see it in person to really get an idea of the quality. The seller doesn't seem very knowledgable. Do you think 200-300 is a reasonable price if I fall in love? Or just avoid altogether?

That could be a pretty nice frame but hard to tell from the pics. It may have a Reynolds sticker. The brakes (modolo speedy) aren't bad but the brake pads were poor on modolos (easy to fix). The rear huret derailleur is pretty decent; the sansin hubs aren't bad. The crank is not very high end; neither is the front derailleur by the looks of it.

The problem is that the pictures are not very good; there are a lot of them and they are clear but it is hard to figure out what the parts are.

$200 is a very decent deal as it sits. I wouldn't pay more.

you could always purchase the bicycle with the idea of upgrading some of the so-so fittings. perhaps you could recoup part of the purchase price by selling off items you decide not to keep.

from what can be seen in the pictures the best fittings are stem, bar, brakes, headset, pedals, saddle and saddle pillar. wheels, crankset and gears could be improved.

hope this assists a bit.

Maybe 200 if it is in perfect ridable condition.

Nice stem. If you parted it out you might get $$ for it.

The rest is NOT as advertised;
Crank is Sakae, not terrible, but not light.
Rear derailleur is Huret, ok, but again, not high end at all.
Brazeons for a rack or fender, again, not a high end racer frame.
Modolo speedy brakes, not bad.
Campy seat post - nice
Hubs, Sansen, low end Sansen as well. Looks like low end rims. New tires though.
Frame doesn't look bad, and may be worth upgrading.

It could be that someone took most of the nice bits off and put on cheap bits they had lying around.

If I were buying this bike, I would be buying it for the frameset plus the stem/bars and seatpost/saddle. The rest of the components really don't belong on that frame with the possible exception being the brakes.

I would be curious to find out the frame tubing but unless it's SLX or something the asking price is WAY too high. Based on what I can see I agree with the estimates of $200.

It's a pretty interesting bike but, no way I'd pay $450 for that. I really can't tell what kind of frame set that is from the pictures & it's not Campy equipped. I've read that Italy outsourced some bikes to Japan back in the 80's. That may be one of them. If it's nice & light & everything works $200 would be closer to reality.

Typically a Razesa would NOT be Campy equipped...it is a Spanish bike, not an Italian one. It would, for a higher end Razesa, be outfitted with Zeus and/or Shimano. Looking at the mishmash of components, it does have the Zeus pedals...but that is the only Zeus part that I could see clearly.

While many are saying $200...I thank that is a bit low...while the $475 for this particular Razesa is high (the higher end models had better paint and decaling)...I would say, based on what I see...probably more like a $300 bike...at least to me IMHO...

Hope this helps...

Thanks again guys.

I emailed the seller and got a reply, but once I tried to haggle he won't reply. Owell, I'll let this one go!
