Tickling turned misunderstandings.
Hmmm. Next time a driver says anything like, "Hey man nice bike" etc at a stop light to you, I have a new plan. You must execute it.
Usually, you would say something sheepishly back or nothing at all. NO. This is not correct and very un-fun. Next time say, "SURE! I really needed a RIDE man! I'm BEAT!", then proceed to attempt to get into the vehicle. It doesn't matter what they say, just if they initiate any conversation, just immediately misunderstand it. Bonus points for not even letting them finish their sentence.
Some guy was being rather jovial at a stop light today, and I pulled this on him. He was totally cool with it, and wanted to help me throw my bike in the back! I had to laugh and say sorry I'm just messing with you, but it was too funny.
If tickles are too MUCH fun, this might be safer from a legal POV. More unsafe if you are adverse to the chance of actually getting into the vehicle.
The rest is unpredictable genius.

I usually just say something like "Thanks-It rides great too" .. unless the vehicle is a nice high end import - then I say " Trade ya ". Always get's a chuckle from the driver.

It seems like the official 41 response should be to identify the person's most apparent flaw and compliment them on that sarcastically.

More than you can afford, pal. Felt.
This would work better if you have a Cervelo P4, Trek Madone 6.5, etc.
