Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Zzzzzzit Noise ????

I'm getting this weird noise during my pedal stroke- every time I pass about 80 rpm, in every gear, when the left crank arm goes forward beginning at about 9 o'clock almost down 6 o'clock - zzzzzit (or sometimes just a click when I climb at less than 80 rpm ).

Anyone ever had that? Know what it could be?

I've tuned the derailleurs, threw on a new chain and checked for rubbing, lubricated the pedals and tightened the crank arm to spec but it won't go away.

I suspect it's a BB bearing problem or uneven wear on the spindal but would be interested in other theories. ( Dura-Ace 7800 BB btw)

I have been having a similiar problem. Mine has been more of a "click", it happens when you really torgue the pedals and even when out of the saddle. My LBS has been working on the problem, one thing that you did not mention that might be worth checking, are the spokes, especially on the rear wheels. Sometimes they can lose their tension. But after 4 weeks of this "click", this is what was found....a bad BOTTOM BRACKET, the mechanic had taken it off and greased it before and siad it spun fine, but when "loaded" with weight it starts ticking. I have a new one ordered.

Good Luck/
