Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Ah…in fact, I may have misunderstood it, and you’re probably right. I was a bit perplexed by the pedestrian element initially, but your understanding that bicycle motion is to be controlled by pedestrian control signals makes more sense. Thanks.

I honestly don't know the details of what kind of deal she got when her job ended, pre covid, and that isn't the point. I just know she didn't take care of herself and wound up in a situation all of us want to avoid. I'll give you another example.

Road cyclists get osteoporosis, we're worse off than couch potatoes. Best theory is we lose a lot of bone mineral in our sweat, and we spend our time doing an activity sitting down with the bike bearing our weight for us. Andy Coggan fell down and broke his hip like an 80 year old woman. I don't say that as an insult, it's about risk categories. Resistance training improves bone density and strength. So do impact sports, that's why MTBers are better off than we are. Anybody who is a human should do resistance training for their own health. Road cycling is really good for us in stone great ways but it's not enough.

$35 fine for unsafe passing and $220 for a collision causing bodily harm? WHAT EVVVVVVERRRRR! And the moving to the adjacent lane thing is only if the adjacent lane is in the same direction which should make PCH safer but we are still subjected to the 3 inch rule on other roads.
