Wow, just crept about half of this thread and it's motivated me! I've got a '91 Trek 520 frameset that's been hanging on peg for a couple of years and I'm gonna knock the dust off of a credit card and order some stuff to build that thing up this winter. Some beautiful bikes in this thread.

Here's my 1985 Raleigh Wyoming touring bike. It's got more sport geometry though than a pure touring bike but it's still fun to ride. Fairly original and complete with the factory Flickstand. I completely overhauled it about 9 months ago and replaced with new tires, Brooks B17, leather tape, new bars, all new cables and housing and the side-pull brakes off my new Wabi. Rides well.
Hey, how about those factory Suntour stem shifters, huh? ROFL!

I think it is this thread where someone actually used an old Raleigh Gran Prix as a tour bike.

No one cares
cool Bro. But that's not a touring bike, even if it DOES have "super campagnolo".

I see you're in the south of France... Where specifically was that pic taken might I ask? I did a 10 day tour of the Vaucluse in 2014 and it was the best thing I've ever done on a bike! Spent a night in Isle Sur la Sorge, Roussillon, La Coste, Bonnieux, Gordes- were some of my favorite memories.

I guess I'd be inclined to say 43cm or longer.
Looking at the Vintage Trek site, there's a chart about the "tourability" of the 520. Since some years of the 520 were pretty firmly in "sport touring" territory, the chainstay length and the availability of cantis were good identifiers. 43cm was a good length- but I'm in the "longer is better" camp!

That's got cantis AND 45cm chainstays, sounds like a touring bike.
Doesn't it also have mid-fork eyelets too?

Nashbar 1988/89 c/tour
Anyone have any info? I'm assuming it is a Shogun or maybe a Miyata?
Did a quick put together with new cables, tape, fenders, fenders, and seat. Will eventually do a complete overhaul and clean.

I picked up this 76 Viscount Aerospace Victor a couple of months ago in near original condition. It has the Shimano Positron 5 speed gears, which I think was among the first indexed shifting Dérailleurs.
Although not dropped bar it was originally described as a " Gents Tourer"
