What is a Fixie good for?
Hey guys, i bout a Motobecane Outcast SS 29er with 03 Bomber Shox yesterday for only 275 bucks.. he gave me a few extra sprockets and also he gave me a Fixie type sprocket.
ok, i know what it is to a basic extent. i know that you cant stop peddling when its on... but why?! why do people do this? i want to know what its good for before i put it on there. do you benefit in anyway?
PLEASE CORRECT ME IF IM WRONG ON THIS! i think i am, i only started mountain biking about a mount ago

Pure kinetic energy, the bike follows your rhythm completely. You can get going really fast, too. It's nice not to hear anything while you're riding, as well.

they have the potential to be light, which is relative AND most bikes that get raced on a velodrome are not as light as bikes that get raced on the road, two different types of machine. Fast, what a n00b thing to say, it's entirely situational, ESPECIALLY for a fixed gear.
+1 on the fun though
They are also good for killing worn race tires, which fits into the fun category.
only if you ride brake-less with your feet off the pedals
do you also have a hard time walking and chewing gum simultaneously?
