Peugeot First Race 1000
Hi people.
I've found a Peugeot First Race 1000 (someone correct me if I'm wrong) that seems to be from ~97.
From a Danish point of view, I think seller is asking for a quite fair price, but I wanted to hear what/if you have something to say about this bike in terms of frame quality etc. To my eye it seems in very well condition and even the bar tape looks original. Seller claims it has always been stored inside.
I'm 180, seller claims it's an 56, but from what I see it only came in 54 and 57, so probably a 57.
Best regards
/Chris

All the parts on that bike scream low end/entry level. By the mid 1990s, anything decent road bike wise would have STI shifting. DT shifters were long gone by then. Super cheap rear derailleur, cheap crankset, looks like riveted on chain rings. Tires are goners. I doubt the splash bar tape is original, regardless, you can get it from China for under $2. Looks like seven speed freewheel.
Its an example where the name is better than the bike.

I would agree low end euro market from the late 90's looks to be os high ten level tig and internal weld job with silly squashed diamond top tube not a great frame. As a rider it should make a decent rider worth 150 or so euros if in good working order ready to ride.

Concur with the others; this is not much of a bike. Also it's not a great choice for a commuter which is what the OP wants I believe.

Might just end up buying some random bike instead of bothering you with all these posts .

Hi Skou, do you have the sellers info still as I found this bike dumped in my back lane and I am trying to return it please reply many thanks, just as I would like my bike returned if it was taken or lost, the only difference from the picture is that someone seems to have changed the reflectors colours, if I don't hear any info from the community and knocking locally on doors I will give police a call and see if I can get it back to it's owner
