Misery with swap from Shimano to FSA square taper crank
I want to switch to a FSA Vero compact crank 330-6482 with JIS square taper on my 1995 Lightspeed Catalyst but the original BB appears to have a square taper segment that is too short. The bike has a Shimano FC-6400 tricolor crank, sealed BB with 115.3 mm axle length and 68 mm wide BB shell. What BB is needed?
Many thanks
Jim

Perhaps you have a "low profile" JIS bottom bracket: https://www.sheldonbrown.com/bbtaper.html You could replace it with a more-common standard one. Perhaps FSA has a recommended length for that crankset.

Have you actually installed the crank, or just eyeballing?

Do yourself a favor and use a Shimano crank with HTll. You can get a nice Sora compact for under $50.
