Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Mustang. Type of horse. Something you ride.

(though the real reason is when I was signing up at BF, I couldn't think of a name and figured one day I'll change it. The name originally came from one of my best holidays, when I hired a Mustang (the car, not the horse) and done a road trip across 4 western states of america).

Yeah, it's how I get 5-6k of my miles a year. With a half century round trip commute however, I look at it less as a commute than a nice bike ride with an unfortunate eight hour rest stop.

Mine does not relate to bicycles.

Instead, it relates to being the king, the ruler, the man in charge of all that goes on. It could also relate to the once dominant gang in inner city Chicago, the Vice Lords.

"Bill Bones" is the Darth Vader of my childhood. He's the unsavory chap who set up residence at the inn run by the mum of the young hero in Treasure Island.

Here's the painting of him by N.C.Wyeth that illustrated the books of my youth and provided the very image of terror. Fellow cyclists, I give you "Bill Bones"... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billy_Bones

By the way, check out that guy's lower leg muscles and tell me he's not a cyclist?

Oh, but I beg your pardon Vicelord. Maybe you can get away with this nonsense while I'm not in Chicago (or Phoenix) but...

Etymology:

Donald "world-mighty, ruler of the world. Don; "lord, master."

(well...at least as don is used in my alias here...I rule the Denver area in cycling )

Mine sprung from a moment that was completely devoid of imagination.

On other forums I used to use Plantation1 which was a combo of a school where I was coaching football and a (temporary) state ranking. A long time ago though.

I suppose I'm a projectile when I ride, but it's more because I like the word, and words in general.

I always assumed it was a 55cm.

Not that I obsess over old-timers' nicknames, or anything.

Mine references an iconic cartoon character from my hot rodding idol. I use a variant of it almost everywhere I sign up on the Internet, (except music related forums).
