Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

This is my first carbon bike, and I love it. 2012 Specialized Tarmac, /w Sram Rival and Fulcrum Racing 6 wheels. The first time I rode it I was amazed at both the power transfer you get with the carbon frame, and how sturdy the handling felt on fast descents. The stock wheels are really smooth but a bit heavy (around 1800-1900g if I remember correctly), that's probably going to be my first major upgrade. The whole bike comes in at 18lb. 11oz., a ton compared to c0lnago's bike , but I still like it!

Yeah, it's a 90mm. The original 110mm had me stretched out a bit too much, in reality I probably should have gone for the 56cm frame rather than the 58cm. I didn't realize however that the effective top tube length on the tarmac is almost the same as on my previous bike (a 61cm fuji roubaix). Lessons learned I guess, check all frame dimensions before purchasing! The 90mm isn't bad at all though, especially since I've been riding it for a while on the fuji too. If any of the 2014 tarmacs tickle my fancy later this year I might sell this one and get a 56cm.

Sadly I gave that a lot of thought but the brakes don't inspire confidence. I originally planned one set of DT shifters and a 1x6 to be honest.

Why not just make it a SS and call it a day? I'm sure you can embarrass people on some hills like that...

I live in SF...my grades range from 5% to 25%. One gear won't cut it for that range for me...

Second day of owning this bike. Breaking her in slowly, 30 miles so far. After riding a 32lbs Trek 7.2fx, a 21lbs Fuji 1.1C is an absolute dream.

Sorry, I know it's supposed to be chain on the big ring up front and small in back, but I sometimes suffer from dyslexia.

Well, you have double the good taste my friend! I fell in love with the look, ride, and price point of the Sportif. I was looking at the Domane 2C, the Fuji won out.

That Fuji 1.1C is set up for some serious climbing it looks like. What is that a 32t big cog? And a mid-length cage rear derailer.

Yes sir, that's a 32 on the back. Coming from a hybrid, the close gears are a dream on the Fuji.
