Old brakes on a new bike vs cheaper new brakes

I just bought a bike that came with MT400 brakes. Power is more than enough on the rear, and simply ok on the front. My 6 y/o SLX brakes braked better with less force.

To put the SLX brakes on the new bike I need new hoses and new pads or rotors (the rotors on the new bike are crappy "Resin pad only"), the price of that exceeds the price of a MT420 4 piston caliper. I'm debating between buying new hoses and reusing the old brakes, or buying an MT420 caliper and use that on the front. Anybody tried it and knows what will provide more powerful braking?

I've also been thinking about simply buying new Deore brakes, as at 99€ they're a steal and easily provide the same power as an XT as they're mechanically identical. The 4 piston caliper is just 30€ though...

buy the deore or SLX they don't get much better for the price and ease of maintenance
