Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

HED wheel/tire problem changing tubes

I love my HED plus 5 Jet wheels from Performance, a few seasons back, but I have trouble changing tubes. I have Continental Grand Prix 4000 tires, and I could not stretch the tire back onto the wheel with a flat today. This is ongoing for me. Is there a more forgiving tire, or do I sell the wheels? Fixing flats on my non-carbon wheels is a breeze. My wife picked my son and me up. I threw on my son's old Oval back wheel onto my Kestrel, and with the Di 2 electric, it worked well. My son has the Ovals that came on my Kestrel. He's happy, so what do I do??

It's not the wheels. Try GP 5000's. They're easier to mount. I ride Belgium+ rims which are the same as yours without the faring and the 5000's go on much easier than the 4000's.

They're tubeless ready rims - pay particular attention to getting the tire beads in to the center depression of the rim bed or they'll be too tight.
