Rain or shine, I'm out daily. I prefer riding in the rain (when it's not too cold) actually. For the bike, just wash it off with the garden hose. No big deal.

Unless it's absolutely pouring, I ride. The trainer is absolutely awful, and I will resort to it only when some physical malady (like a broken hand) prevents me from riding normally.

Don't have too many other choices.

Peloton?

Rollers are simultaneously boring and exciting. Sportcrafter have pretty realistic resistance.

I use a fairly good aluminum road bike or hybrid as a beater to spare my pristine carbon fiber bike on my commute, which are my training rides, even including a long route on Saturdays to go to work for a few hours at my convenience.

Are we doing this again?

1. Trainer / Rollers -set up in front of the TV and find a TDF or Giro/Vuelta stage on YouTube (foreign language broadcast makes it seem like you’re part of the race)

2. Cross-train. Run, lift, Zumba, all of the above, whatever.

3. HTFU and go ride your bike. It’s what a true Hardman would do.

It's not actually a complicated issue, is it? Your choices are:

1. Ride in the rain
2. Use a trainer indoors
3. Run in the rain
4. Run on a treadmill
5. Whatever else floats your boat.
6. Do nothing when it rains;

We who live in Seattle have a nine-month monsoon season, so we each have to decide what works for each of us. For me: I don't like cycling in the rain, and my knees have run out of cartilage, so I can't run anymore. So I can do nothing, or use a trainer indoors.

I choose to ride on a trainer, in front of a TV, watching movies or old TV shows. Yes, it's boring. But it beats getting fat and out of shape, I think.

YMMV

I go to the gym and do resistance training and lifting. Need that to promote bone density, which bicycling doesn't do.

I don't like riding in the rain, never have - but like it less as I got older, for a variety of reasons. Would almost never ride outside if it was raining hard but would take chances if it was just showers or just a forecast of rain. The old indoor trainers were too boring.

With Zwift, I hardly ever tough it out anymore! I can choose from races, workouts, group rides, just riding, etc - get in a good workout without cars and trucks spraying in my face.

Last fall, on a group 55 mile ride, where there was no mention of rain in the forecast, a cold steady rain hit at about mile 20. It hadn't stopped by the 25 mile rest stop and lot of people diverted to a shortcut would have still meant 40 miles total. I looked at the weather radar on my phone and convinced myself I was just about to ride out of it - wrong. The little rain cloud seemed to synch up with the route and my speed. Continued to pour for the next 20 miles - I slogged it out by disassociated and pretending I was on Zwift climbing the volcano in Watopia...

I currently live in Florida, where you are always wet. Either it is raining or you are sweating up a storm. I ride in it, on steel. See a lot of others out in it as well. If it were cold and rain I would probably find another way, but that rarely happens so not an issue for me.

You clearly don’t have enough bikes. Get a cyclocross bike that has fender mounts and use it in the rain and/or for riding gravel or racing cyclocross. Wipe the chain when you’re finished and leave it dirty. I commute year round in Vancouver so am accustomed to rain. I don’t like it but prefer to ride in the rain than sit ona trainer. If I could run for 10 miles I’d do that instead but it takes me a long time to build up my running to the point where I can do long runs injury free and I don’t have the energy at the moment to run and bike.

Cycle outside anyway
Ride my trainer ... I used to do commercial intervals, but now it's Zwift
Go to the gym to take a Spin Class or run on the treadmill
Go for a walk
Use my rowing machine
Go to the pool for a swim
Take a day off
Lift weights
Climb the stairs at work
