You're unlikely to get a specific reply without getting into more specifics. Trek has been making hybrid bikes for more than 30 years. I can tell you that I really enjoy my 1992 model. The frame is steel and very resilient, it’s not too heavy, it's comfortable, and it gets the job done. I’ve been using it for basic transportation all over town. The rear derailleur and crank were damaged in an accident, so I made some replacements there. Also I replaced the grip shift with thumb shifters out of personal preference. Some of the gear had just worn out after 25 years, some of which were pretty neglectful. I got the bike for free from a neighbor and probably invested about $150 to get it up to speed. I don’t know anything about current models.

It has 700c 38mm tires with small knobs. My typical rides are 10-15 miles, though a few weeks ago rode it solo almost 40 miles around a lake in Michigan's U.P. No problems. Light aluminum frame, good bike.

I have a 2013 Trek DS (Dual Sport) 8.4 with 21.5" frame. It has hydraulic disc brakes and 9-speed rear cassette. I typically ride it on paved and gravel MUPs. I put a rear rack on it for commuting. While I have a road and mtn bike, the Dual Sport is great for commuting and leisurely rides with family and to/from parks. I do 10-20 mile rides on it. My first disc brakes (Hayes) on a bike; awesome stopping power.
I had to take it on singletrack a couple of times. Due to the height of the frame, narrow tires, and short travel shocks (30 mm), it was a bit rough to handle. But, I made it thru the trail.
The frame geometry is setup where you are in somewhat of a mtn bike position and not quite sitting upright.
