35 miles for me, with the last 10 or so in the rain.
Had a high wind gust of 36mph while I was out, so fairly gusty but only about 10mph sustained. (wind gust was into my face on the way back, I had to check the local weather station to se how hard it was)
temps in the 60's/70's... nice ride all around.

Century yesterday.
First spinning class of the season tomorrow.
Rest day today!!
I will, however, momentarily be going out and giving my bicycle a good cleaning, etc.

One of the riders I was with today went down and is in bad shape. During a nice, social club ride, a young woman endo'd while going down a shortish, steep (15%+) hill with some loose gravel. Probably doing about 30 mph at the time. Head injury, shoulder torn up, ear and nose mangled. She was airlifted to regional trauma center in PA.
She was using Speedplays and one unclipped by ripping out plastic ring on bottom of shoe. All in all, a very severe impact to her body.
Still waiting to hear outcome.

Oh-Uh, then I read this about yesterdays ride. Not good.
https://www.smh.com.au/news/national/...560680570.html
A cyclist competing in yesterday's Sydney to Wollongong bike ride has died from head injuries after he crashed 12km from the finish line, police said.
Police said Colin Sparke, aged 83 and from Terrigal, was riding along the section of the course on Lawrence Hargrave Drive at Thirroul about midday when he came off his bike.
Police believe he was riding down a steep hill and his pedal clipped a traffic barrier.
He suffered major head injuries, including multiple skull and facial fractures.
An off-duty paramedic and ambulance officers treated Mr Sparke before he was taken to Wollongong Hospital by ambulance.
He was listed as being in a critical condition and died shortly before midnight with his wife and family at his bedside.
About 14,000 cyclists participated in the 90-kilometre ride, with it expected to raise $1.7 million for people with multiple sclerosis.
Police from Wollongong Local Area Command are investigating the man's death, with information to be provided in a report for the Coroner.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

Unfortunately, I spent most of today reading Jane Eyre for AP Lit today, but went on a short 4-mile ride to the bank. Perfect weather for November, 75 and sunny, but how did I ride?
Pathetic. I'm Slow and out of shape. Damn you, high school.

Laps of the neighborhood called by darkness a little bit ago. It's well-lit, but I don't have any lights or reflectors on the bike. I'm glad I'll still be able to ride after work once I get some strobes.

Really unknown. State of pedal just an indication of force of crash.
Unfortunately, this is the second time I've witnessed the same type of crash in the last two years. Steep downhill, chip/seal country road, something goes wrong, and rider hits pavement head first. First time, I thought the person was dead, and next day she was sending emails from her hospital bed. Hopefully this will turn out the same way.
If I hear of any problem attributable to equipment failure, I'll post separately.

22 Miles today with my wife and a friend of ours. First ride for my wife since Mid September when she had a pretty hard crash whill riding The Silver Comet. My first ride in about 30 days.
First half of the ride was fun. Last half it got windy, cooler and started raining. Yuk!

Today I crashed at 21 mph on my tourer w/ panniers on it, on a flat road. Bruised but unhurt thank goodness. I had just came back from watching the NYC Marathon, so I decided I still had time for a late quick 23 mile loop, so it was getting dark when it happened.
Lessons learned:
1) Never, ever take the hands off the handle bar right at the moment when your front wheel is going
into a pothole and/or deep manhole cover. I had been riding the drops for a few minutes, when I decided to switch to the hoods at the very moment (not paying attention, duh?) I was going over a rather deep manhole cover. Next thing I know I wasn't holding the handlebar when it went from out from under me, never got to reach the hoods, all it took was a second, tried to recover but I was already flying....ouch!
2) Keep wearing your helmet, always, and I mean ALWAYS. If it wouldn't have been for my helmet my right side of skull would've slammed the pavement. I know tomorrow
I'm gonna be sore like a mother, but that's ok....

Twenty-five miles in my standard rolling hills terrain. Wanted to do more but have had about 15 hours of sleep and very little food in the past four days.

Went out for another ride, with jmechy. Was going to do a climb but forgot about less daylight today and we would have been in the mountains in the dark without lights, so we just cruised around the foothills instead. Arriving back at my house I wanted to do another sprint test with someone watching, so I did a lap around my neighborhood and sprinted corner to corner, for a new peak (1022W) and 5s (956W) best
