Are you buying a Bike in this crisis?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Are you buying a Bike in this crisis?

People all over the place are cautious about spending their money due to uncertainty in the financial lanscape.
But are you still buying the bike of your dreams or perhaps just getting a good deal somewhere?

Yes, I'm buying a Giant Defy in January. I don't know what your "difficulty in the financial landscape" mumbo jumbo is.

I, personally, have $ 3,000 to burn, so to speak, and I'm dying to buy me the new Giant TCR Advanced
but I think I'd rather wait till the "smoke" clears.

Yes, I've got a 29'er in the works, as well as an overhaul of my Giant Trance MTB.

I odered a Specialized Roubaix Pro - Dura Ace a while ago. I am still waiting for Shimano to deliver...

I started to have second thoughts (maybe I should cancel the order), but then - if I get laid off, I'll have plenty of time to ride!

I've never spent more than $200 on a bike so it doesn't really affect me (I'm happy with my old steel clunkers). I did buy a DSLR this week though, that cost more than any of my bikes.

There is no crisis for me, but I'm not buying a bicycle just now because:

1) my money is going toward my education.

2) my money is going toward a move to Australia to be with my husband.

what crisis? proper financial management dictates that I can, and will, build another within the next 6 months.

MTB (nov)
Road bike (april)
Commuter (june)

and just bought a motorcycle (sept) Kawasaki Z750S
In the next 12 months I will have a wedding and buy a house

i think you are listening to the media too much, The word crisis should imply something serious.

Nope, bought a new bike last August so I'm done with new bikes for a while. I'll keep on buying those yard sale specials though.

I won't, but I don't need one. I did order a new set of Ultegra shifters tonight (to upgrade my Klein to 10 speed) if that counts for anything, though.

I couldn't afford one before the mess, and I still can't. Nothing changes there for me.

I have been weighing my options but the economy has kept me from pulling the trigger so far. I have a good road bike that I will keep for the rest of my life, but I do not own a mountain bike and have had my eye on a new full suspension 29er. I live in an area surrounded by mountain bike trails.

If I can convince my wife, I will be buying one before year end.

I bought one in September to avoid the '09 price increases. Got suckered into buying my wife a bike as well - thankfully hers was far cheaper.
