Parts for mating chain rings: 80s 10 spd Deluxe?

Hello All;
I have an early 80s Panasonic and one of six bolts that holds the two chain rings together is missing. I have several questions; Is there a one stop shop for sourcing all parts "old Panasonic" and is there a spacer b/t the two plates through which the bolt goes to maintain spacing of plates? Is this a question for the mechanic section?

Best to all

Hello and welcome to the forum recovering

Readers would be able to give better directed help if you could let them know the make and model of the bicycle's chainset...either that or post an image thereof.

The companies which manufacture bicycles in most cases do not manufacture any of their parts. So the brand name of the bicycle does little to provide useful information for readers regarding your question.

A 1980's bicycle & its fittings is perfectly appropriate fodder for this forum.

Hi Juvela; I'm unable to post images (only my second post). It's a NerVar and the outboard chain ring has 52 teeth. That's all I can glean from it.

Hello again recovering,

Two workarounds for the ten post requirement -

a) you can post images to the "gallery" on your forum member home page

b) you can upload images to a photo host site and post the URL here in munged form to get past the censor and then post text instructions as to how to "unmunge" it, in case it is not obvious

there is a NERVAR catalogue posted online; but it is from 1974 and you state your bicycle to be "1980's" so it may not be of much help. it is here -

Nervar catalog (1974)

The other bolts should be able to tell you that.

Absolutely. The situation I have is distance from brick and mortar bike shop. Alternatively I could order online, I'm just a bit shaky on dims and thread count. Local hardware stores (2), do not have a compatible bolt.

No unique Panasonic parts on that bike other than the main frame triangle. The rest came from others. This makes getting parts much easier.

Many brands made nothing. They were marketing companies only. Endless list of those brands. Even brands that made their own bikes outsourced some production to others. Example, Panasonic made several Schwinn’s. So are my three Panasonic built Schwinn’s Panasonic’s or Schwinn’s? I even had a Giant made Schwinn where Schwinn supplied Giant 1970s Paramount headbadges to put on their 1983 Schwinn High Sierra. So is it a Schwinn, a Paramount, or a Giant? Confusion runs rampant.
