Working in that space between software engineers and middle management is what I do in exchange for money. It pays for the bikes.

I'm in the Medical field. I have posted on a few threads about my Commuting advantage:

Architect here. I rent an office space in the downtown of the city that I live in and try to bike as much as I can (+/– 15 min each way). Usually it's the construction site visits that mandate my use of my car.

IT support and tester for a software developer, so home based. Also have two small kids at home who take up waaay too much of my time. Wish I lived 10 miles or so from work so that I had to ride there...

+1, not that I'm complaining. This is a pretty diverse group. I am a museum curator.

Civil engineering, specifically road & street design. Not sure where that puts me in the poll.

I mine data in the financial world. I used to bike to an office, but I changed employers well before covid hit and they allowed me to work from home, but I still get up on occasion and commute round trip to my garage.

Ultrasonic inspector , ASTM level II. I work in the nuclear industry, specifically inspecting the tubing used to make nuclear fuel rods. I didn’t vote in the poll because I’m lazy...

I was in Information Technology for 34 years. I'm back in college to finish the Computer Science degree I left undone over 30 years ago, and when I grow up, I'm going to be a school teacher.

Good on ya Tom. Never too late for school. You could easily argue that many of us should probably be going back to school as well...
