Sometimes timing is everything.
I was walking back from lunch today when I saw a woman trying to get change out of the parking kiosk across the street from my building entrance. I think she was not wearing pants, only a long t-shirt that came down mid-thigh. My bike was parked 20' away. Being a savvy city boy, I had good idea of what was likely to happen next. Sure enough, she drifted over to my bike and started to unzip my saddle bag. I quickly put a stop to her actions. You don't **** with a man's saddle bag.

I feel for doctors. I've told stories here about my own family practitioner whom I really liked, same age as me, and I started with him when he was a fresh new doc. He gave me Hell when I retired young and then 10 years later, told me that he couldn't take it anymore and was hanging it up. I felt so sorry for him because he started off owning his own shingle and then became a part of the big machine, too. A lot of changes since our relationship started way back when.

Yeah, but he's talking about a basin to catch dirt and crap during construction. I would assume that it will be cleaned and reshaped for use as a run-off basin after construction is completed. Personally, I call them breeding zones for Federally protected flying vermin.

In the late 90s I was working all day in a photo lab/darkroom. Left around 5 to discover that someone had stolen the QR skewer of my MTB seat post. Fortunately, there was a LBS about 5 blocks away, where I was able get a replacement.
That was a ballsy move in the middle of the day on a busy street. I could have showed up to retrieve my bike at any time and caught the guy.

But what was she hoping she would find? We leave our bags and stuff in a crew room at the charlotte airport. There has been thefts before which is crazy, since it means a fellow crew member is stealing your things. I’m not sure how I would react if I caught someone going through my bag, but it wouldn’t be pretty.

We had one of those for years in our town. I called her "T-shirt and Flip-Flop Lady", because she ALWAYS wore just flip-flops and a T-shirt (a very large T-shirt, thankfully) no matter the weather. Carried something tucked under her right arm, about the size of a folded newspaper.
