Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

There is a Mediterranean restaurant here that I like a few things from, but usually I just go there for their lentil soup and falafel.

Oh, and the coffee

I don't really hold strong opinions about actors (or movies/shows in general), but I think he fits quite well in the context of that show.

I couldn't find really any feedback on their jerseys, but their bibs/not bibs are pretty well regarded and I feel like it would be tougher to get those right than a jersey. We'll see I guess! Looks like it might be a bit tighter in the waist than my current jerseys, but I'm happy to see that they're a whole lot shorter. I have a couple of super light Gore jerseys that I bought when I lived in Texas that are perfect for hot days, but they're so long that they bunch up in front of my stomach on the bike.

I kind of like the look of these Air Speed jerseys, but holy schnikes does someone need to work on their white balance

I thought those looked a little off, but I don't know the language with which to describe it. I'll be curious to see what they look like IRL, I bought the orange and lime jerseys to try and fulfill my dream of becoming a highlighter.

We often include beets in our organic garden, chemicals are the debil. They are an easy to grow superfood, and for the first time we're going to plant another batch for a fall harvest. This year also we tried this striped variety, looks pretty cool. Coasting would approve.

Verizon is now admitting that it is having a system-wide problem activating devices. Maybe I will finally regain phone service some time today. Or maybe not.

My favorite local restaurant is Lebanese. I like everything but the wine list, which is all Lebanese and uniformly bad.

Confirmation that if you do too many likes, the "like" button below threads no longer is shown. I believe it will reset the next day.

It also doesn't show up on new posts if you load a thread, post a quick reply, and more replies were posted between page load and the refresh from posting the QR.

I suppose I should post a bug report for that, but I doubt it would get fixed.

Great. The Older Boy finally replaced his aging iPhone 5, and that may explain why the new one doesn't ring.

We maybe grew up in the same house. Oh wait. We called them red eggs. And still do, actually. My sisters still make them.

Another fun fact: I went and took back a like and now I have the like option back. The counter goes both ways, it seems.

I have a brother who lives in NEW Mexico, but not OLD Mexico.

The area I grew up in had a lot of Pennsylvania Dutch, who tend to make all kinds of pickles, probably dating back to pre-refrigeration practices from The Old Country, but of course the Amish and Old Order Mennonites don't do refrigeration still, so they still pickle.

And then sell to "The English" who visit the area.

I sauté them in Evoo with garlic till tender, add a little salt, tasty.

Mrs BD has a technique to cook them together with the root, but that’s above my pay grade. Very tasty.

That reminds me that my first real gf was of Lebanese/Italian descent. Her father owned a restaurant.

I didn't grow up here. I escaped here. I am of Pennsylvania Dutch descent, and grew up in Northern Ohio.
Some of my way back ancestors lived in @datlas' neck of the woods. Others in eastern Pennsylvania. Berks County, iirc

And beets are one of my favorite foods. In almost any form. Think Bubba Gump.
