SOLD - Vetta vile green bar wrap

I think it's a vile colour, have no idea how or why (or when) I bought it. I don't like the stuff even when it's a nice colour.

One package is not complete - it's missing one of the short bits, one of the sticky bands, and the instructions; in addition, the short bit is quite dirty.

5$ a package plus postage; buy the two good ones and I'll throw in the third.

What's the consistency of this stuff? Is it like modern EVA cork tape? Is it like the soft smooth padded tape I took off of the 1995 Trek 5200?

I'm looking for handlebar tape in green to wrap the bars for a bronze green 1973 Supercourse. I was strongly considering Bennotto cello tape, but the price here might be right...

It's a bit squishy, but not as thick as some of the cork/foam/rubber/whatever stuff. Thicker in the middle, tapered to both edges.

I looked at a few in ebay listings and couldn't make a determination on what the top is like. Is it smooth and a little shiny? Matte and like an open foam? We could try a closer picture too; I just don't think I have experience with the stuff to know if i can live with it. Cello tape isn't going to have any cushion, so this could be a reasonable halfway, rather than a cheap Deda EVA wrap.

I've got to admit, I did go out of my way to find that color awhile ago to redo this when I get around too it. Still not sure though as right now it's got black and is cool. Still, every color has it's purpose.

Serious: the illusion created by the paint is fantastic. It makes you think it can glow in the dark.

I used a green splash tape on a red bike, and it turned out pretty rad, particularly with the addition of green stripe tires. Though it wasn't as "green" as this.

I think this needs to go on a green Schwinn - Varsity or such.

I just checked. The wrap is a skin over the foam, the outer surface of the skin is smooth-but-pebbly, sort of like a fake leather feel. The little cracks that make the surface texture are really small, ~2mm apart.

So it's not slick like cello tape, and it's not sticky like foam or cork, you can slide you hand over it, depends on how tight you grab it.

or you can think of vile green tape as a theft deterrent. when i lived in myrtle beach, i literally covered my beach and errands bike in stickers and decals so someone stealing it would need hours to remove them all. this pic was early in it's long career.

Is the green fairly bright? I've been trying to match the green of these decals for a while now, without success...

When I bought the bike, it had a green that was too light...

And then I tried some Deda tape that was too dark...

Trivia fun:

The human eye is fine-tuned to be particularly good at differentiating shades of green over other colors in the visible spectrum.

That's why color matching greens is an express ticket to frustration.

PM Incoming. I don't think it'll be entirely incongruous to put it on this:

If the photos are true to color, I'd say they're a closer match than either of the previous efforts, and probably about as close as you'll get.
Cool looking Basso BTW.

Funny you should say that, because in response to Unca_Sam's post I was going to point out that judging the color is difficult in photos, as it can really vary depending on the lighting.

I mean, just look at these two pics below, taken a couple of seconds apart on the same phone. Looks like two fairly different shades to me (must have something to do with filtering out the clouds, but I don't know much about photography). And thanks for the compliment, I wasn't crazy about these colors at first, but they are certainly a bit different:

I'm interested. I have a friend with an insanely green Project One. His bar tape doesn't match. That shiiite does.

Clean with a wipe.

T'was a bit stiffer than i had hoped - but came out OK.

Non-vile green is supreme.

That was the plan for the Supercourse, until this post came up. Common sense tells me that it's about the same as gripping a bare bar though.
