Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Gift Wish List

What's on everyone's wish list? Thinking accessories, parts etc., not new bikes! Looking for some good ideas in a range of prices up to 1k.

New wheels are always nice.

Clothing such as a nice jacket and gloves for riding in the winter.

Things I'd like but probably won't buy myself:
  • A really good and light wheelset. Not too aero, but just enough. Not certain I can do that for your 1k budget though. Won't you spend a little more on me?
  • A power meter. I used to want some Garmin Vector's but gave up on waiting for an SPD version. At the same time I'm thinking a crank based power meter like Pioneers might be the thing. Pioneer's division that makes power meters just got bought by Shimano didn't they?
  • Another Selle Italia Saddle. They've always fit me well. I just can bring myself to spend 200 or more dollars on my butt. However, I've always found their lesser models comfortable too and have occasionally found some sites advertising returned "open box" higher tier models at a price I'll pay. Or how 'bout sending me one of those 3D saddles that Specialized and Fizik has out. I'll probably just steal the one off my other bike since it's not been ridden in quite a while. Though I intend to give it to my younger son when COVID and weather gets better and decent enough for me to drive to Colorado.
Thank you in advance. Let me know if you need an address to send to! <grin>

Last night I found out my parents want to give me a Peloton or whatever Bowflex's alternative is.
I was stunned and very appreciative, but worked hard to express(in many ways) that a wheel on trainer has been good enough for me and I wouldnt get the use out of a Peloton as its similar to what I do in the winter, but significantly different.

I think Ill ask them for a POC Ventral helmet or I guess a Wahoo Snap?...though the spindown thing 10min into rides each time seems less than ideal.
Really, I would be good with a Snickers bar and pair of cycling socks.
