Cycling android app recommendation (virtual partner, route following)

Hi guys.

[Long version]
I'm looking into getting some of the features of a garmin device on the cheap. I already have a Sigma Rox 5.0 with cadence, HR monitor and a multitude of other stats on the go.

Specifically, I want 2 additional features.
- Route following (creating or loading a route and following it)
- Virtual partner (racing against a virtual record/yourself)

For these 2 functions, I have been thinking about getting the cheapest (dual or quad) android with at least 512MB ROM/RAM with a phone mount. Screen not greater than 3.5-4 inch (for battery life, less weight and less shaking on bike). The android will be stripped of all apps except the 2 needed for cycling (preserve battery life, less junk = more stable phone).

My question would be what android apps would provide me wih
i) route following
ii) virtual partner
They can be on different apps.

Thanks for reading

[Short version]

I need an android app (or 2) that will perform these functions.
i) route following
ii) virtual partner
They can be on different apps.

GPS in mobile devices is finicky at best and don't be surprised if the data on your Rox doesn't match that of the apps on the Android device- which more than likely won't match, either.

Thanks no1mad. Checking it out. I've had good experiences with strava. My gps data is quite accurate when compared to my sigma rox data. The only inacurate data is the top speed. Else, avg speed, distance are virtually the same.

edit: Needs the premium account to activate ghost tracking. Will have to test it before buying one year subscription. Hopefully, there can be a free app for that =)
