To paint or not to paint ... that is the question?
I traveled a couple hours to buy this small, mid-level Crescent, only to find the seller didn't disclose the scratched paint that went most all the way across the top tube of the nds. It was only $75 and had some nice stuff on it, so I didn't even say anything about it to him. I quickly paid him and left.
For a couple months, it sat as a frameset that I had been meaning to paint match and paint. I thought the build was deserving. But then I found this long decal on ebay...
It was a whopping $20, but was almost the perfect size to cover the bare frame. And the bike did have Campy hubs, so I could justify it.
This time around, I chose not to paint. Glad I did. It's only original once.

NDS = no need to paint.

Repainting that lovely old road bicycle would be a mistake. To Paint or Not to Paint, is a question that I have wrestled with for many years. Have a look at the link and many of your paint or not paint concerns will be answered.
