Front derailleur pull variations?
There is a lot of information about the pull on RD's which complicates selecting shifters dependent on matching with rear sprocket spacing. Most often it is about the diameter of the shifter barrel vs RD movement per index.
So what about front derailleur's? Is the same true or because most of them can be handled easily with friction, they are all the same?
I recently, last two weeks, finally set up a bike with brifters, 8V Ergos to be more specific. I just felt that if the performance could be maintained, my preference would be Italian drive train on an Italian frame. Budget is really tight so I had to compromise. It is a mix of 7400 DA hub and sprockets with Wheel Mfg spacer being shifted with a Gen II Chorus 9V RD. Since I don't have a braze-on Campagnolo FD, I left the DA FD on. It takes 3-4 indexes to shift from large to small. I like the trim capability but to be honest, it is rarely used. 3 position in one stroke is a long stroke.
Do the Campagnolo 8v and 9v FD's require less pull?
