New chain '74 Motobecane 10-speed

So along with the new rims mentioned a few days ago, I'll need a new chain. Are there varying quality levels of chains offered for a '74 10-speed Motobecane? I'd like to get a decent one, or are they all cheap now because not many quality 10speeds made anymore?
thx..Tom

I am partial to the SRAM "8-speed" chains.

Get a kmc z72 on ebay, shipped for $7.02.

Then keep it clean and waxed. In two years, buy another one.

Reading some other threads on chains, it sounds like the trend for many riders is to buy a cheaper chain and replace sooner (I've not been around bicycles for the past 30 yrs, so relearning a lot of 'stuff')

Oh, can someone explain how/why the 8-speed chain will work on the '74 motobécane 10-speed? Sorry, trying to get caught up on things ;-)

The number of gears in the back determines what chain is used. Your bike has 5 gears in the rear, so it uses a 5 speed chain. But, any chain made for 8 speeds or less (with the exception of a 1 speed chain) is compatible with your bike.
