You just have to keep watching eBay and either have the price be in your comfort zone or not... I got lucky with the Vetta racks. SOMA had a front rack with this style of attachment.

‘84 310 sold last year
‘85 710 60cm but same top length tube as the 57cm size. Little less pelvic clearance, but can get the bars high and comfy! Rode it to work this morning!
‘86 710 57cm Chromo fork, zippy!
The fiancé’s got her own ‘86 710 and I think an ‘85 210 for her commuting and zipping around. I’ve got an ‘84 610 down to the frame that I’m cleaning up. Oh yeah! And an ‘89 CT3000, it’s a carbon wrapped aluminum APA bonded frame, with middling Groupo hung off it. I actually had it sold but it came back to me! For the sale I was asked to put a flat bar on it, and I ended up digging the ride. In motorcycle terms it’d be a “hoodlum bike” a race bike with flatbars and higher center of gravity wants to wheelie all day. This is like that!!
...And with the help of a generous facilitator I’ve got something very special coming in the post in the next week or two...

My Miyata 1000 from the 1980's ...
Still work in progress (I've spent a lot of money so far and am 90% done)
I received the bike in original condition .... I had been searching for 4 years to find one in my size (50cm) and found this one from a seller in Germany ... I normally ride a 52cm, but the Miyata top tube is longer so this was the important criteria for sizing ... the 50cm Miyata top tune is the same length as my 52cm Trek Emonda SL6 ....
His late dad bought it brand new in 1984 ... rode it a few times and hated drop bars and was nervous to ride it through the traffic, so he never rode it and it was stored inside his home ....It's in mint condition and I paid £560 (which included the £80 for shipping via courier)It cxame with the original 36/40 spoked wheels and had the original Miyata 32 mm wide Radial tyres
so far I've changed the saddle to my trusted and comfortable Brooks Cambium C17 carved ..... I've had a new wheelset built (HED Belgium Plus rims, SON28 front dynamo hub .... Royce rear hub
I've added dynamo lights (Supernova E3 triple front and rear), I removed the original Miyata mudguards and replaced them with wider Honjo hammered mudguards which now allows me to use tyres up to 36mm wide using mudguards
I've added 3 Nitto bottlecages and a Brass Japaneze Crane suzu bell
I changed the original pedals to Shimano SPD
I've added a K-Edge garmin/GoPro combo mount
I have most of the Miss Grape Bike Packing bags
I have the Garmin Varia Radar unit and a Cygolite Pro 200 rear backup light ... I also have a Garmin Virb Ultra 30 front camera, a Cycliq Fly 6 rear camera
still to do:
buy front and rear Tubus Racks (The bike came with original bespoke built Miyata front and rear racks but I need the Tubus which is a much bigger diameter tube and much stronger), I need to get 4 Ortlieb pannier bags, Sinewave revolution to charge powerbanks whilst riding, and I need a USB helmet light as a backup and a new Garmin 830 satnav (I will use my existing Edge 1000 and have the 830 as a backup ...
then I think I'm done (then I need to start getting camping and fishing gear)
I use this bike as my daily commuter, and will be touring and riding long Audax rides on it .... My first tour is next year .... wild camping/fishing around a part of the Wild Atlantic way in Ireland which will include fishing with a drone (I used to live on the beach and fished most days .... so I'm really looking forward to this trip ... I'm also planning touring Wales and Scotland around the coast
I know that many will say I should have kept it original, but I wanted a really good steel touring bike to ride daily and many have said that the 1980's Miyata 1000 was one of the best, even in today's standards .... I currently ride close to 300Km a week and will increase that soon ...
the bike rides amazing (I currently have Continental GP5000 tubeless tyres in 32mm wide) .... The bike is very comfortable and the new wheels have made a huge difference .... I also paid £200 to have a proper bike fit that was done using a computer (STT 3DMA system .... that was amazing and they set up the bike spot on, including my cleats ..... I will have my other bike setup aswell)

I got this Miyata Seven ten for $30.00 Canadian. It came with a Campgnolo rear derailleur and Shimano 105 hubs and Campagnolo brake levers with Dia Compe 500 brake calipers. This is it after it was first rebuilt.
Here's how it looked when I brought it home.
It's a double butted frame and someone here told me it's a 1984 model.
I've since change some components on it and will post images of it as it looks now when I take the images.
Cheers

That's amazing, a bike like that for 30 bucks. Should be good for another 40 years.

Here's my Koga-Miyata on its way to becoming a speedy 5-speed commuter with drum brakes and a dynohub:
Hardtlite chrome molybdeum FM-1 tubing with a Hi-Manga fork. Tubing designed by Koga but made by Miyata. Some models even have the splined, triplebutted version of it but I can't tell on this model.

It's too bad that the gear-like part on the rear derailleur that replaces a normal B-screw broke. That's why I changed out that Campagnolo rear derailleur. The bike had Campagnolo brake levers on it but I don't know which ones they are. The crankset has the same bolt center diameter as my Campagnolo Triomphe one has.

BTW, is that a purpose-built tow rig you have on the towing vehicle? Looks like you've pulled things home this way before.

Yeah, looks like a 1984 based on the graphics. That would also mean it has (well, should have) splined triple-butted (STB) tubing, made directly by Miyata. Smokin' deal!

I used to get a lot of bicycles fro a fellow just outside of town but unfortunately he has passed away.
If I were going to tow a bicycle on a regular basis now I'd get one of these and mount it on my rear rack. I'd still use the two Arno straps as safety straps though.

^^^^^ Neat idea; I have some old Saris roof rack mount points that just might be adaptable to the purpose.

Oops, I stand corrected! I could swear I saw "splined" in the '84 catalog, but looking again, it just says triple-butted. Still, I was impressed to learn that they made their own tubing BITD.

Currently working on restoring a 1984 Miyata 1000. Such a great bike! I'll share some photos as soon as I hit 10 posts.
