As we avoid falling.... we forget the art of falling.... then we avoid falling even more. As a result... we become slower and slower. If we don't practice our balance while walking (as we do while cycling).... we lose it. Without the reactive balance to recover from slips... we fall. Without the skills to fall properly... we can easily become injured.

Its a shame there isn't "tumbling" classes for seniors... like there are for kids.

Got back into mountain biking sprint of 2012. I was 52. Had a serious crash the second time out. High speed, hit a tree shot off the bike like a rocket and into the hard packed trail on my left shoulder/side. The best feeling I had had in a very long time!! Loved it! Felt alive and vulnerable again! Been crashing and burnin' since.
