Secure or exaggerated? (Chain drop device on di2)

What do you think regarding the use of this little device on a bike equipped with Di2.
Would be better to be extra safe (more exatra in case you have a nice paint finish), or is just exaggeration?

The weight and cost are trivial, so it can't hurt. Nonetheless, a properly set-up system won't drop the chain in normal riding, and it's even less likely with a clutched RD.

My Di2 equipped Fuji came with one from the factory. I haven't needed it but, you never know.

Is the possible scratch or marring of the finish on the bike going to annoy you? They don't bother me.

Absolutely use it if you have a carbon frame, as the chain can dig into the frame material. In 14 years of di2 I have dropped the chain twice. Both times I was going downhill towards a stop sign and braking hard on washboard surface.

If it worked you might never know you needed it.

Ok i've installed it.
Weight is so insignificant , the original bolt weight 3g. The carbon part with the titanium bolt weight 4g.

Might as well run it. If someone handed it to me, I'd install it, too.

I knew a guy who actually sawed through the BB shell to the extent the frame had to be trashed. Obviously an abundance of user error, but still....

I run a K-Edge one as it is gold and matched some parts of my bike so it was an easy choice. I blew up a derailleur once going up a hill my Synchro-shift decided to do its job and but didn't realize I didn't need it to shift and it blew up the cage. Shimano warrantied it and I got rid of Syncrho-shift and no issues since but I have that little guy just in case.

Cheap insurance. Only bikes w/o them are unpainted titanium which if the chain ever drops the scratches can be polished out.
