Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I used a shovel today. Just a couple of fluffy inches on the driveway. It wasn't translucent.

Also looks like the quote links are working fine. I was sure they would be but I had to be empirically certain.

Datlas, have you considered cable service instead of phone carrier DSL or whatever they call it now. Phone carrier service just doesn’t compete.

In my area, phone company fios is quite reliable. Though I can say that for most of the other providers as well. Due to all providers’ “new customer promotional pricing” practices, we replace providers in 2-3 year rotations, so I’ve pretty much used them all.

I have considered it, but with the exception of the Zwift issue, the service is fine and the cost is good. Not worth the cost or hassle at this point.

If I ever become a serious Zwifter, I would reconsider.

Verizon Fios is pricey but top of the line service, you shouldn’t believe the cable company’s scam ads.

That's what we have. And it's fine. But it does "freeze" for a second periodically, which is only a problem with Zwift.

As awesome as that shovel might be, it is the bench that caught my eye. A boyhood friend, a man I've now known for about 70 years, revived his early artistic talents that had been dormant during early child rearing years. His daughters got into horses and so the family traveled frequently to dressage events. As as a sideline he began making similar benches from black walnut trees he felled and milled himself. On the backrest, he carved a horse's head in perfect detail. As the family traveled to horse shows, he would take his benches to sell for $1500 each and he was selling everything he could produce to those horsey people. A fine way to offset the cost of owning horses.

We are already planning for our Festivus ride. There will be airing of grievances, for sure. Possibly feats of strength.

A side question, has that shovel actually been used? The label looks perfectly intact, without wear marks of any kind..... Might lead some to question if it has been truly tested for awesomeness, though it can be agreed that it looks awesome.

We need a long-term test report.
